So last night was the AWANA awards ceremony. And it was sort of surreal. I admit that I didn't really like shortening my Sunday afternoon nap to get up and go to AWANA. But this year being an AWANA leader has been SOOOO rewarding.
I've worked with my Sunday School babies for almost 3 years now. And I LOVE watching them grow and learn. I was VERY nervous when I was told I was going to be working with girls in AWANA that could actually hold a conversation with me! I haven't really worked with any group over the age of 4. AND the church that I grew up in didn't have AWANA so I knew very little about it.
But God has truly blessed me with my girls this year. They all have worked so very hard. Not wanted to quit saying verses at the end of the night. "Can I please just say one more?!" How can I turn a child down who is wanting to learn more and loving reading Christ Holy Word?! I never could. I also got to see two of my AWANA girls accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. It was AMAZING! And it's still amazing to me knowing that these 1st and 2nd graders are already filled with this hunger for Christ. I pray daily that it only grows!!
All in all, I LOVED AWANA! And I can't wait until next year!!!!!!
